Two minutes silence today

Today, Friday 15 August 2025 marks 80 years since the Victory over Japan (VJ Day) marking the end of the Second World War.

The council will be observing a national two-minute silence held at noon today (Fri 15 Aug) to honour the 80th anniversary of Victory Over Japan (VJ) Day and the end of the Second World War. The alarm will sound to mark the start and finish of the two minutes silence.
