The Unison North Ayrshire Branch are looking to fully embrace the digital age and the opportunities it brings to engage with members. With this in mind, the team are creating an exciting new opportunity within the branch, the role of the Digital Influencer.
Working alongside Reps and workplace contacts, you will be involved in developing and maintaining the branch’s online presence through the creation of digital content.
How the opportunity has come about:
As part of the North Ayrshire Unison Branches 2025 and Onwards Communication strategy, the team are looking at the ways we engage with UNISON members. Traditionally methods have included email, letter, telecoms and occasional Facebook posts.
However, the North Ayrshire UNISON branch are keen to make use of technology and popular approaches to digital engagement to improve this. With this as an essential goal, the team have decided to create a new role: “Branch Influencer” and are inviting those interested to reach out via the email provided with a show of interest.
Role criteria:
To take up this opportunity you must be a member of Unison North Ayrshire. It is also worth noting that as is the case with Shop Stewards and Safety Reps this is a voluntary role which is secondary to the role which you are employed by North Ayrshire Council to carry out. General Support will be provided by the Branch Communications Officer, Branch Secretary and Branch Admin as required.
Key Tasks:
- create and publish engaging content aligned with the Branch and Unisons values and objectives
- be involved in the management of the branch’s social media accounts (e.g. Facebook, Twitter/X, TikTok)
- promote events, campaigns, and member achievements
- amplify national union messages and translate them into local relevance
- monitor online sentiment and feedback from members
- uphold confidentiality and ensure all posts reflect union policy and standardsPerson Specification:

- confident using social media platforms- including the creation of content
- creative and proactive communicator
- able to write clearly and in an engaging tone
- committed to union values of solidarity, equality, and inclusion
- reliable and able to commit to an agreed level of engagement online
