Beat the Street arrives in Irvine

Irvine is being transformed into a giant game from 24 September – 5 November 2025, and your community is invited to play.

Earn points, get active and win prizes and awards for you and your community in this free, fun, walking, cycling and wheeling game.

Beat the Street is for everyone so there are two ways that you can play: You can play with a Beat the Street game card or via our mobile app.

Players over the age of 13 can play with the app, and should download it via Google Play or iOS app store . Follow the on-screen instructions to create your account and add any additional player profiles.

If using a game card, please follow the steps below:

  2. Collect a game card and map. Schools will provide game packs to children with cards for pupils and parents/carers along with maps. Adults can also collect game cards and maps from local distribution points.
  3. Check out the map where you can find the Beat Boxes to tap around Irvine to score points for walking, cycling, wheeling or running between them.

Create or join your community team and you could win loads of great prizes! You can find out more about how to sign up and get involved on the Beat The Street website.

To start playing  Beat the Street in Irvine, school pupils age 12 and under can also collect a Beat the Street card from their school.

Beat the Street was is delivered by Intelligent Health, in partnership with, and funded by, North Ayrshire Council.

The main Beat the Street experience lasts for up to 2 months and transforms a town into a giant playground.

Participants can pick up a Beat the Street card which contains radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology and tap them against sensors called ‘Beat Boxes’ located on lamp posts across the area.

Players receive points for each box they tap and can even create or join teams which can receive prizes for tapping the most boxes; this motivates entire schools, community groups and businesses into becoming more active.

Once the game is complete, Beat the Street creates a legacy of physical activity; using the power and popularity of the game, Beat the Street will signpost people to events and activities in their area as well as working with local stakeholders to continue to build active communities.
