Regardless of your role within North Ayrshire Council, you have a legislative duty to report, if you know or believe an adult may be at risk of harm.
Would you or your staff know what to do if the circumstance arose? Do you know the difference of what is classified as an adult at risk of harm, and a general social work concern? Do you know how to complete the necessary referral?
To try an assist staff in identifying the differences in referral types and ensuring all concerns are recorded in line with the legislation, we are now offering back to back training courses. ASP Level 1 course in the morning and after lunch the ASP referral pathway workshop.
The first course ASP Level 1 offers an overview of the legislation as well as exploring staff’s responsibilities to both identify and report harm or suspected harm of adults.
The Workshop allows participants to access the online system, and complete a referral in line with a case study situation. This will show how the referral should be completed, especially focusing on the evidence required within the 3-Point Criteria. As a consequence, by working through such a referral, it will help identify the difference between ASP and a social work referral, which is also explored during ASP Level 1.
HSCP Staff please note: You should complete ASP Level 2, and you should also attend the ASP Referral workshop unless you are a Council Officer, then you have your own learning pathway. There are two referral pathway dates arranged for the day following ASP Level 2 training.
