It is important that you take the time to Stop, Think and Check before you send any email content, attachments, letters, or any other communications containing personal or sensitive information.
As a Council employee we all have a legislative responsibility to take care of personal information. This may be service users, tenants, employees’ information.
We must adhere to the Data Protection Principles in line with the UK GDPR legislation.
The most common principles breached are:
- Accuracy
- Confidentiality
- and Integrity
The majority are of which are caused by human error. This can be prevented by using the Traffic Light System.
Before clicking send or sealing an envelope:

- SEND once you have carried out your checks.
