Annual leave for 2024 must be applied for by Fri 6 Dec

The deadline is fast approaching. Read our round-up of what you need to know in relation to annual leave entitlement and booking annual leave before the end of 2024.

Annual Leave Deadline fast approaching!

All annual leave being taken in 2024 must be applied for by Friday 6  December 2024 and all requests must be approved by your Line Manager no later than Monday 9 December 2024.  Please note that once your remaining annual leave entitlement has been transferred to 2025 it will not be transferred back to 2024.

After Monday 9 December we will calculate your remaining Annual Leave entitlement, and this will be manually transferred to your 2025 balance.

Upon 1st January any annual leave pre-booked for 2025 will be reflected in your leave balance.  Please note that any leave pre-booked now for 2025 will not be taken from your 2024 leave balance. Please consider this should you be looking to use any carried forward leave to cover these 2025 days.

The following categories of leave have been available for you to book in 2024.

  • Annual Leave – This is your 2024 Annual Leave entitlement which should be used by Tuesday 31 December 2024.
  • Bought hourly annual leave (where applicable) – This is your 2024 bought annual leave entitlement (up to 5 days) which must be taken prior to normal annual leave entitlement being used, subject to any annual leave carried forward from the previous leave year.

Please note any remaining 2024 bought hourly annual leave will not be carried over to 2025.

  • TOIL and Flexi Leave (where applicable) – This leave is unaffected and will automatically carry over from 2024 to 2025.

Please note that the normal rules around end-of-month flexi cut-offs will still apply.

You will continue to have the above-mentioned categories of leave available to book for 2025. The Annual Leave category will include your 2025 Annual Leave entitlement and any leave you carry over from 2024.  Please take note of when these allowances should be used by:

  • 2024 Annual leave carried forward – should be used by no later than 31st January 2025.
  • 2025 Annual leave entitlement – should be used by 31st December 2025.
  • 2025 Bought hourly annual leave (where applicable) – should be used prior to normal annual leave entitlement being used, subject to any annual leave carried forward from 2024.

Please note that BAL is not added to your Annual Leave total.  Your BAL total can therefore be viewed separately via your estimated balances.

Please note that should a service / manager require unused 2024 annual leave to not be added to an employee’s 2025 Annual Leave entitlement, please contact the Kelio Admin team and we can arrange for this balance to be removed.

Please be aware of the following additional points:

  • The Authorised Absence applied as a half day on the 31st December is applied to all Kelio users and will only be removed for those individuals/services that advise us to do so each year.  Please therefore, where applicable, contact the Kelio Admin team and we can arrange for this half day to be removed.
  • For any Kelio users who have the authorised absence applied within their Kelio leave calendar who then subsequently clock in during that absence, the system will automatically credit the employee with appropriate flexi time.
  • For any Kelio users who have the authorised absence applied within their Kelio leave calendar who do not clock in, the Kelio user will be required to retrospectively manually add in their clockings and once these are validated by their line manager, the system will automatically credit the employee with appropriate flexi time.
