25 Jul: ESOL: Story-Listening group to help improve New Scots’ English skills

People from countries including Ukraine, Syria, Afghanistan and Iran are improving their language skills thanks to a Story-Listening programme in Irvine. North Ayrshire Council’s Community Development team, including ESOL Development Worker Calum Paul and Community Development ESOL Tutor Joanna McCulloch, has adopted a Japanese method to help boost New Scots’ English. Parents are training to become classroom assistants in North Ayrshire schools through a popular training initiative. As part of North Ayrshire Council’s Skills For Life programme, parents who have been out of work and are looking to get back into the workplace are supported as they explore new opportunities.
