Employability Week shines a light on services and support

An exciting week of special events is being hosted later this month to help people access the support they need to get into work or training.

North Ayrshire Council’s third Employability week offers a series of community events and activities, where experts will explain different services that are available.

The week shines a light on the great work that is being done by Council teams and partners, and is being coordinated by the Council’s Employability Service’s Your Next Move, Working North Ayrshire programme.

Residents can find out more about the wide range of support that is available locally including: Modern Apprenticeships; opportunities for young people aged 16 to 24 through CEIS Ayrshire and offers for mums and dads through the Parent Hub.

Laura Neill, Senior Manager for Employability and Skills within Economic Development and Regeneration, explained: “We are delighted to be running Employability Week for the third year running.

“More than 600 people attended events last year to find out about everything from new vacancies to volunteering. This included more than 200 people attending the Modern Apprentice event and 300 members of the public going along to the jobs fair.

“We are excited about the programme and look forward to welcoming everyone along, and we would appreciate Council colleagues spreading the word about our plans with friends and family members who may be looking for a change of job, some training or a volunteering opportunity.

“I would like to thank my own team, and all the Council staff involved, for doing a great job of arranging everything again this year.”

This year’s Employability Week runs from Monday 26 May to Friday 30 May and will be launched on the Council’s social media channels on the opening day.
