The Scottish Government has announced that the NHS flu vaccination programme has been extended this year to provide more individuals with access to free flu vaccinations. This now includes:
Anyone aged 55 and over
Anyone with a health condition
Those living with people who are shielding
Pregnant women
Healthcare workers
Social care workers who provide direct personal care
Please take advantage of the free flu vaccination programme where you are able to.
If you are entitled to a free flu vaccination, these will be available between October and March directly from your local GP – contact your GP surgery for more information nearer the time. The earlier you get the vaccination, the less likely you’ll get flu.
Flu Vaccines provided by North Ayrshire Council – Updated 31 August 2020
Some Services may also be organising additional flu vaccinations for those that are not entitled to the free flu vaccine, who are also involved in working with the general public.
Where these are being organised, they will only be available in the form of a paper voucher that the individual employee will take to a location of their choosing to redeem and get their flu vaccination. There will be no flu clinics held on North Ayrshire Council premises due to the demand on supplies.
Details of the various pharmacies and supermarkets within a 20 mile radius of Irvine are available on the Flu Vaccine Voucher Locations document. Where these are available, your line manager will be in touch with you to offer these.
Please note that if you are in one of the eligible categories, you should source this through your GP surgery directly.
