Free Tree Giveaway!

Climate Change is one of the 4 Key Priorities of the Council Plan and at the Connected Leadership Conference on 2 October 2024, our leadership team heard about all the fantastic work being done to help North Ayrshire achieve its target of net zero by 2030.

At the recent event, an offer was made to offer a free tree to all employees and school children to help with this key priority. Please help the Council to achieve net zero by taking up the offer of a free tree.

This can be done in two ways.

  • you can take a tree and plant it in your garden. Once this is done, can you please update North Ayrshire’s 2030 Woodland portal’. This will help us track progress against the target. Your tree will be a native sapling chosen by the Arboriculture Officer (young tree, ready to be planted outside) and will be delivered to your place of work.
  • alternatively, recognising that not everyone has a garden, or space in their garden, you can donate your free tree to a Community Woodland. Streetscene are currently evaluating a number of options for Community Woodlands and if you choose this option we will provide you with details of the Community Woodland your tree is planted in.

To take up the offer of a free tree (native saplings no more than 4ft tall that you can plant on your own), fill out the dedicated e-form.

Please also help to spread the word of the FREE tree giveaway with colleagues and teams and further encourage participation. Further details will be issued to assist employees without an email address to participate in this.

Neighbourhood Services will shortly be working with Education to further expand the offer for each school child.
