Colleagues across council services who would like to take on a new personal challenge have the opportunity to study for a degree while continuing their current role.
Graduate Apprenticeships for the new semester are available through the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).
The industry-focused programme provides employers across Scotland with a fully-funded pathway for staff and new recruits to achieve undergraduate degrees.
The benefits include:
- both the learner and the employer enjoy flexibility
- blended learning and delivery to reduce time away from the workplace
- the academic teaching staff at UWS have significant industry expertise and
- you can combine study with work commitments.
Graduate Apprenticeships were launched in 2017, offer work-based routes to achieve a degree level qualification and are funded by the Scottish Funding Council.
They offer a great opportunity to combine your working life with studying – so you can learn while you earn. Benefits include learning new skills and improving your career opportunities.
Laura Neill, Senior Manager for Employability and Skills within Economic Development & Regeneration, said: “Graduate Apprenticeships offer Council colleagues across our services a fantastic opportunity to develop new skills, and help us to ensure we have a high-skilled workforce.
“This partnership with UWS also helps us to attract and – importantly – retain talented people because by offering Graduate Apprenticeships it is clear that we are investing in our workforce and are opening up as many opportunities as possible for staff to develop.
“I would encourage anyone who is interested in finding out more to attend one of the Teams information sessions that have been arranged by UWS.”
