Over 170 colleagues attended the in-person ‘A Great Place to Work’ event at Cunninghame House on Wednesday, 11 September.

Hosted by People Services and a host of partners, the “market-stall” event gave the opportunity for colleagues to visit a host of partners to find out about the selection of perks, benefits, support and volunteering opportunities on offer for Council employees and how to sign up for them.

Everyone had the chance to browse through the stalls at their leisure, and speak to the partners whose offerings were most relevant to them.

It is a Council priority to be an employer of choice where the most talented people want to work, and the team were delighted to be able to showcase the variety of support that is on offer.

Learning and Organisational Development Officer, Kirsty Monaghan shares: “As an employee of the Council, we all have access to a fantastic selection of perks, benefits and support through many of our partners. But not everyone is taking advantage of them.

“Although we already have a dedicated Staff Benefits webpage for employees to access information on employee perks and benefits, we know it is important for people to connect in person too.

“Many employees may wish to speak directly to our partners so that they can consider their own personal circumstances and how their offerings can help them, so this was the main reason for hosting our event.

“Our many employee perks include: exclusive discounts, health and wellbeing support, help to save money and invest in your future, and opportunities for growth and personal development.

“We are absolutely delighted that over 170 employees attended to find out more about how they can benefit too. Thank you to everyone who took the time out to come along.

“It was a great turn out and we hope to have another awareness and information event just like this in the future. We were also really grateful for the great feedback received in person, from both our external partners and attendees, about the event.

“Our team will soon be sending an evaluation form out to all attendees. We would be grateful for any responses as this will help us plan and improve on any events in the future. Look out for this in News In Brief.”

Partners have already shared some great feedback with People Services following the busy drop-in.

Andrew Hale from the LiveWell Group – the Council’s health working lives programme said: “Thanks to People Services for this informative and worthwhile event.

“The Great Place to Work event was an excellent way to get to speak face to face with a wide range of our colleagues across the Council.

“As a stallholder covering both the LiveWell and the Employee Disability forum, it was fantastic to engage with a number of people on the day to explain the services provided and how people can get involved with these.” Email Andrew for further details on these: andrewhale@north-ayrshire.gov.uk
