Phase 2 of North Ayrshire’s national Covid memorial programme resumes tomorrow evening (Wednesday, August 23)
Residents from across North Ayrshire are being invited to share their stories as part of the national Covid-19 memorial programme.
The ‘Remembering Together’ project is now entering its second phase following a series of community workshops and engaging creative sessions, held at the end of 2022.
Residents are invited to attend a community event at Lochshore Hub on Wednesday, August 23, from 6pm, to give their unput into what a North Ayrshire memorial could look like.
‘Remembering Together’ is being delivered by icecream architecture and funded by the Scottish Government in partnership with Greenspace Scotland.
Delivered in all 32 local authorities to acknowledge moments of reflection during the pandemic, the project is beyond the halfway point of the community consultation in North Ayrshire.
Project Manager at icecream architecture, Rachael Kelly, reflected: “We are truly touched by the stories that have been shared and want to thank everyone who has shared them with us. We have spent the last six months sifting through the responses gathered by North Ayrshire residents to better understand their needs.
“Everyone has their own unique experiences so we have now taken those findings and developed a series of creative activities to troubleshot how everyone’s unique community ambitions can be taken to a design stage and fully realised.
“From a quiet space to a place to spend time walking in, we’re looking forward to see where Phase 2 will lead us next.”
Remembering Together: Co-creating Covid Community Memorials is a project that aims to commemorate people’s experiences across Scotland throughout the pandemic. You can read what has been shared already online and there’s still time to add your own Covid-19 memories, publicly or privately on the Map of Memories website: https://www.mapofmemories.com
