IT Services have identified that entertainment streaming services are being used on Council laptops.
Whether connected at home or in the office internet traffic from your Council laptop uses the Council’s monitored internet connectivity and using these services is impacting network performance.
These services include Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, Spotify, NOW, and BritBox but this list is not exhaustive.
The Council’s ICT Acceptable Use Policy states that the Council’s internet access is provided primarily for business use and that limited personal use is permitted.
However, personal browsing is prohibited between 9am and 5pm, this includes during lunch time. Education staff within schools and nurseries are limited to personal use outwith timetabled teaching hours. Limited use does not permit the use of entertainment streaming services.
