Info on HPV Vaccine in schools

Our Health and Social Care Partnership have shared an update on the HPV vaccine in schools…

The HPV vaccine helps protect people from HPV-related cancers and 90 per cent of genital wart infections. Getting the vaccine now protects young people against future risks.

Last week, an envelope with an information booklet about the vaccine, ingredients and any side effects, as well as a vaccine consent form, was sent to all North Ayrshire S1 pupils and any older eligible pupils with incomplete courses.

The info packs and consent forms will be distributed by your child’s school. If your child does not receive a pack/consent form, please contact the school to request one.

Consent forms  should be returned to the school as soon as possible and by no later than Friday 31 January.

It is important to ensure the consent form is returned even if you DO NOT consent to your child receiving the vaccine. Failure to return the form will NOT be taken to mean non consent. If appropriate, your child may be immunised after giving their own consent.
