New! Local Business Database

The Corporate Procurement Unit have created a new Local Business Database on Connects.

The database will be available to council service teams through Connects on 1st April 2025 and will help to identify local businesses capable of providing goods, services and works to North Ayrshire Council.

The database supports our Community Wealth Building aspirations to increase local spend which encourages and supports a growing, diverse and resilient local business base. All staff should use local businesses, where a local supply base exists within North Ayrshire.

Please note: this does not circumvent the procurement rules, and all staff should continue to adhere to those set out in the council’s Standing Orders relating to Contracts.

The Corporate Procurement Unit will reach out to key services over the coming weeks to offer a demonstration of the database and its functionality.

Tip! To apply multiple filters on the database you must hold the ctrl key.

Council service teams may find the ‘description of the goods/services’ and ‘category description’ filters the most useful. As well as the ability to export searches into MS Excel.

Additional local businesses will be added to the database over time.

If you currently work with a local business and they are missing from the database, please email William Tomelty Procurement Team Manager (Sustainability) and Chris Watson, Programme Manager (Skills & Supply Chain).
