Kilwinning Library is one of six pilot libraries throughout Scotland helping to signpost people to public sector services including health and social care via the ‘Near Me in Libraries’ scheme.
Near Me is a video calling service used by many health and public services. However, not everyone who is offered a Near Me appointment will have the phone data available, Wi-Fi connection or IT equipment/smartphone to be able to take advantage of the service.
In addition, they may not have a private place from where they can make the call, or they could be unsure of how it works.
To break down these barriers, Kilwinning Library now has a dedicated Near Me space, equipped with the necessary IT equipment and offering complete privacy to make your call and can either be booked by services or service users. Library staff can also provide assistance for anyone who is unsure how it works.
The new initiative is not a ‘walk-in’ service, however individuals wishing to use it can schedule a ‘Near Me’ appointment.
