With a new year upon us, now is the time to give you everyone a heads up on some new enhancements that have dropped in Office 365!
Presenter Toolbar
Now when you share your screen in a Teams meeting, you can easily move the Presenter toolbar to anywhere you want on your screen. This makes it easy to adjust the location of the toolbar based on the layout of the content being shared, ensuring that you can still see the important areas of the screen.
- Start your Teams meeting and, when the time comes to present, select Share from the toolbar to share your screen.
- You can now move the Presenter toolbar from its default location at the top of the screen and reposition it in any area of your screen. Just click on any non-interactive area of the Toolbar or on the new drag handle.
- If you are sharing video or other high-motion content, you can click the Optimize button on the toolbar for a smoother playback experience.
Renaming the General Channel

Up until now, every team in Microsoft Teams had a default General channel. All team members are part of this channel, and it can’t be archived or deleted. You can now rename this channel to something more meaningful! It will then show up in alphabetical order like other channels in the teams and channels lists for all members.
- Open Microsoft Teams and navigate to a team that you are the owner of.
- As the team owner, select the More options button next to the General channel.
- Select Rename channel.
- In the Channel name field, give the channel a meaningful name, and then select the Save button.
MS Lists
List users can now reorder items in Microsoft Lists by dragging and dropping them. The drag and drop feature in Microsoft Lists allows you to move items around to customize the order of your list. This feature is particularly useful when you need a specific arrangement of items for better organisation.
Before you start, make sure that the list view is in Custom Order sort or has no sort applied. Drag and drop does not work on lists with sorts already applied. To use drag and drop on a sorted list that is in Custom Order, make a new view without sort applied, and then use that view for drag and drop.
- Open your list in Microsoft Lists.
- Ensure the list view is in Custom Order sort or has no sort applied.
- Select and hold the item you want to move.
- Drag the item to the desired position and release.
- Once you drag and drop an item, your list view sort order will be in Custom Order sort.
There are several things to be aware of when using the drag and drop feature:
- There is no undo/redo button for drag and drop actions. However, you can drag and drop the items back to its original order.
- Applying any sort order to the view will override the Custom Order sort and disable the drag and drop feature.
- Reordering an item will trigger updates to the list item, which may activate any automation or alerts tied to item updates.
