A brand new community support service has launched in three Garnock Valley towns this month.
Called Our Community Space, the service offers residents a chance to enjoy a chat and meet people, explore ways to improve their well-being and find out what’s going on in their community.
A series of drop-in sessions will run from 1pm to 4pm for anyone aged 16 and over. Free refreshments will be provided and there’s no need to book. Dates and locations are as follows:
Rosearden, Dalry: 2nd Thursday of the month
Bridgend Community Centre, Kilbirnie: 3rd Thursday of the month
Beith Community Centre: 4th Thursday of the month
Our Community Space aims to help reduce social isolation and loneliness, providing a welcoming and informal atmosphere where people can come together to enjoy the company.
North Ayrshire Community Link Workers and staff from North Ayrshire Council’s Connected Communities team are also on hand during the sessions to provide advice on wellbeing support and information on groups and organisations operating locally.
Representatives of Turning Point Scotland’s Prevention, Early Intervention and Recovery Service (PEAR) will also be available to provide support to anyone who has concerns about their alcohol and/or other drug use and their family members.
Sessions will also give residents and staff a chance to discuss where there may be gaps in the support and opportunities available to Garnock Valley residents.
And, the team are keeping everyone up to date with what is happening near them in their new monthly blog – read it online here.
If you’re not able to attend and would like to access support from your local Community Link Worker, call your GP surgery to arrange an appointment.
