Peak train fares are gone for good

ScotRail train at platform

From 1 September 2025, you’ll pay the same train fare no matter the time of day or the day of the week you travel with ScotRail.

What are the benefits?
You don’t have to pay such close attention to the timetable

No more checking the clock to see if you’ve missed the morning peak, or if your ticket will be valid for your journey home. With peak fares gone, that’s all gone. Just the same fare, any day, any time.

You can travel on your own terms

This is travel on your terms, on your timetable, for your benefit. From getting to work to enjoying a day out, from a shopping trip to exploring all Scotland has to offer – this puts you in control.

Value for everyone at any time of day

With peak fares gone for good, you’ll enjoy great value, all day, every day.

Buying your train ticket

From 1 September 2025, Anytime Single and Return tickets have been reduced to the equivalent Off-Peak prices. There may be more people now travelling during the morning peak and ScotRail is encouraging passengers to help avoid queues by using the ScotRail app to buy your ticket.
