Please remain vigilant against fraudsters

A recent incident has highlighted the need for staff to remain vigilant against bogus emails and potential scams.

A fraudulent approach was made recently to one of our Services seeking to divert a genuine payment – fortunately, this was picked up by staff and no money was issued.

The e-mails appeared to be initially genuine, however, on detailed review there was a mis-spelling in the e-mail address.

As a major organisation, we will be subject to scam emails or phishing attempts, so we must all remain vigilant and double check emails we receive – if something doesn’t appear or feel right, speak to your manager or report it to IT.

Anyone who hasn’t yet taken the online course on cyber security is urged to do so as soon as possible – you can find the course and more information on cyber security on Sharepoint.
