The latest issue of the Council’s staff magazine, Staff Talk, is now available for you to read online.
It’s packed full of news and useful information from our Service Areas, so why not grab a cuppa and take a few moments to get up to speed with what’s happening right across the Council?
Our big story in the Summer edition looks at the launch of the New Council Plan. Chief Executive, Craig Hatton also shares his latest update and thanks to staff for sharing their feedback at the recent engagement sessions.
The interview this time is with Neal Lochrie – the Council’s Biodiversity Officer. Joining the team in October last year, if you haven’t had the chance to meet him just yet, read our interview. He also shares a spectacular tale of a natural encounter he’ll never forget – well worth a read!
We take time to highlight once again the latest news from the Child Poverty and Cost of Living board and include a spotlight on the colleagues from across our services who are continuing to champion the rights of children and young people.
There’s the exciting news that Moorpark Primary officially opens and that work at the new eco-friendly £24 million primary school at Montgomerie Park is officially underway.
Summer signals the return of the Mobile Youth Centre and the free holiday school meals programme, so we’ve got updates on each of those…
There’s also the brilliant news of the Health and Social Care Partnership’s Infant Feeding Team who have been recognised by UNICEF and we celebrate the launch of ‘What’s Your Story?’ – the audio time capsule of community pandemic experiences. With 18 recordings, the project has been developed by North Ayrshire Libraries and we shine a light on two our colleagues – Jen from Communications and Danny Sweeney from the Sensory Impairment team, who contributed.
Finally we share a huge CONGRATULATIONS to the Customer Service team who are celebrating 20 years of the Customer Contact Centre and NASA – the North Ayrshire Staff Association – on their 25 year anniversary. And we celebrate NAHSCP colleague David Campbell who survived leukaemia as child and recently ran the Edinburgh Marathon to support others affected by childhood leukaemia.
As always, we would warmly welcome your comments and feedback. If you have any good stories then let us know and we may feature them next time round.
Thank you once again to everyone who has contributed to the Summer edition of Staff Talk. If you wish to contribute to the next edition (landing mid September) please get in touch via email at: communications@north-ayrshire.gov.uk
