Are you having a ‘wheelie’ good time on your bike this summer? Do you want to get up to speed on all things bike maintenance before the Autumn and Winter months?
If so, our Trinity Active Travel team will be saddling up from this week to roll into a town near you.
Great to give your bike a health check, it is also the perfect chance to learn more about the accessible cycle routes and cycling sessions that the team has to offer. The main purpose of the roadshow event is to teach you how to look after your bike and do minor repairs on the go.
Whatever type of bike you have, the team will be on-hand to give advice on how to keep it in working order.
From those who are just starting out to experienced riders, the Bike Maintenance Roadshow is offering seven bike maintenance sessions between now and the end of September.
Spaces are limited, please book via email at: thetrinity@north-ayrshire.gov.uk or 01294 204800 (Wednesday 10am-4pm and Thursday/Friday 1pm-4pm) or drop the team a DM on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/TrinityActiveTravelHub
The Trinity’s qualified instructor Robert said: “We are excited to be providing classes across North Ayrshire once again to help local cyclists to make the most of time spent outdoors on the saddle.
“A well-maintained bike will keep you safe, save you money, and ensure smooth riding…
“So, if you notice any rubbing, clicking or grinding noises when out on your own bike, that could mean that something isn’t working as well as it should be. Please don’t wait for something to break down mid-ride, book your place at one of the free sessions to learn how to complete basic repairs on your bike and for advice.”Taking place in the evening between 6pm-8pm, the schedule is as follows:
- Thursday 3 August – Skelmorlie Community Hall
- Thursday 10 August – KA Campus, West Kilbride
- Thursday 17 August – Vikingar, Largs
- Thursday 24 August – Lochshore Hub, Kilbirnie
- Thursday 31 August – Trinity Active Travel Hub, Irvine
- Thursday 7 September – Townend Community Centre Dreghorn
- Thursday 14 September – Doon the Beach Community Café, Ardeer
So if you want to gain confidence in all things bike maintenance so you can cycle safely and worry-free this Autumn and Winter, why not drop in and learn what you need to know yourself rather than encounter any unwanted surprises when you’re out on your next cycle?
