The town of Saltcoats will begin a national first this month on Tuesday 27 May.
Arranged by North Ayrshire councillor and Veterans Champion Jim Montgomerie, the community event will feature two parts and it is hoped this will become an annual celebration.
The first instalment will be a parade to mark the occasion on Tuesday 27 May and the proceedings will begin with an opening ceremony at Saltcoats Town Hall from midday.
Thereafter, a parade will take place through the town before returning back to Saltcoats Town Hall for a closing ceremony. All veterans and armed forces are welcome to parade.
The second part of the event will then take place at the weekend on Saturday 31 May with a dance being held at the Ardrossan Civic Centre from 7pm.
Tickets are £10 and colleagues and communities are invited to come and support our local veterans.
