IT have shared a message that ‘sharing’s caring’ when it comes to website requests.
The Web and Digital Experience team manage requests daily for content and document updates to the council’s websites. A key piece of best practice the team would like to provide is how to share documents with us.
When requesting a document upload, update or providing a tracked document for page updates, it is important that you share your document with the team correctly in the first instance to avoid any unnecessary delay.
The best way to do this is by storing any Word document you create or edit to OneDrive (remember to provide a Word version instead of a PDF to allow the document’s accessibility to be reviewed).
When saved to OneDrive and with the document open, you should find a blue button at the top right reading ‘Share’. Once selected, there is the option to ‘Copy Link’.
With the link now copied, an important next step is to keep this box open, go to the ‘Settings’ option shown, and ensure access is given to ‘People in North Ayrshire Council’ before selecting ‘Apply’.
This link can then be used in your request on the IT Portal when prompted.
Doing this means the team will be able to immediately access the document, thus saving time and allowing work on your request to begin as soon as possible.
