Spotlight is shone on Employability programme

The Employability team’s Skills For Life initiative has been promoted as a shining example of ways local authorities can tackle educational inequality.

The Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) is a non-profit, independent organisation that supports local government in the UK, Ireland and Australia.

It does this by sharing ideas and resources with its member organisations, which include local government, academic institutions and Third Sector organisations.

The LGiU has highlighted the Skills For Life programme in a briefing it has published that looks at how we can help ensure every child has equal opportunities to reach their full potential.

It also highlights that in Scotland persistent funding disparities and socio-economic inequalities are undermining educational outcomes.

The Skills For Life programme is one of three Scottish local authority case studies that are part of the briefing.

The LGiU aims to recognise and showcase best practice – such as the Skills for Life programme –  from members and the difference this is making in communities.
