Are you over 55 years old? Or do you have a family member who is over 55 years of age and drives, who may like to attend an event designed for experienced drivers, can they spare a few hours on Tuesday 23 August.
Why not suggest they come along to the Fit for the Road experienced driver event jointly run by Ayrshire Roads Alliance and North Ayrshire road safety teams.
Fit for the Road is free event, open to any driver over the age of 55 living in Ayrshire.
Pre-booking into one of the sessions is essential, details below.
Event details: Session 1 is on Tuesday 23 August 2022 (9:30am until midday) and Session 2 takes place in the afternoon from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.
Location venue: The Park Hotel, 2 Dundonald Place, Kilmarnock, KA1 1UR
The event will include presentations delivered by Police Scotland and Urquhart Opticians and the following information stalls:
Ayrshire Roads Alliance and North Ayrshire Council – Highway code tests, brake reaction tests.
RoSPA Scotland will be on hand to provide information on renewing your licence, continuing to drive as well as providing details on further driver training courses.
East Ayrshire Council Vibrant Communities – Find out about health checks, exercise classes, walking, social groups
Urquhart Opticians – Providing eye sight checks
Active Travel Hub – Sharing alternatives to driving
Scottish Fire and Rescue – Basic first aid and smoke alarm information
Trading Standards Scotland – Sharing information on trusted traders, scam awareness and bogus crime.
There is also an opportunity for some attendees to carry out an assessed drive. You must attend the event and book in advance to go on an assessed drive.
