The Terrence Higgins Trust has organised two awareness sessions in November, which any interested staff members are welcome to attend.
The two FREE online sessions are being delivered in support of Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), which is an annual event (on 20th November) that honours the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.
The sessions will help attendees to:
- Engage more effectively with transgender people;
- Have a better understanding of the many challenges transgender people face;
- Get in-depth knowledge from the new revised version of Trans Awareness training that Terrence Higgins Trust in Scotland have been working on in recent months;
- Learn about HIV, sexual health and the wider health needs of Trans and non-binary people;
- Explore how sex, gender identity and sexual orientation differ;
- Provide participants with an opportunity to explore their own use of appropriate and respectful language.
The up and coming sessions in November will also be focusing on Transgender Day of Remembrance and how the annual event came about with a focus on the concerning rise in the number of trans people who have been murdered worldwide.
The sessions will take place on Microsoft Teams on Monday, 18 November (10am until midday) and Tuesday, 19 November (2pm until 4pm).
You can book your place by emailing david.bingham@tht.org.uk who will then provide further information.
