A two-day festival giving North Ayrshire’s young people a chance to let their hair down and have some fun is taking place this week.
Returning for the first time since before the pandemic, the much-anticipated Youth Festival is set to welcome 160 youngsters aged 12-16 who will join the Council’s Youth Services team at Kelburn Castle for a two-day festival of fun.
The event will also include an exciting colour-run taking place on Wednesday afternoon. Look out for the highlights on social media later this week…
In true festival style, young people have been invited to ‘YouthFest’ to camp out under the stars, listen to some great live music and take part in two jam-packed days of activities on Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 August.
The free event is being organised by the Council’s Youth Services Team who will also be joined by a host of other partners including Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue, St. John’s Ambulance, North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership and the Drug and Alcohol Partnership.
After a long two year hiatus due to the pandemic, this is the Council’s way to say thank you to all of North Ayrshire’s young people and offer them the chance to meet new people, make new friends and most importantly have some well-deserved summer fun.
Kicking off on Tuesday, the youngsters will take part in an initial series of ice-breaker challenges to get to know one another and settle in. Then from there, the non-stop fun will a colour run, spooky walk, performances from local musicians and circus performers, ‘rave cave’, bush tucker trails, smoothie bar, bucking bronco, giant assault course and much more…
The event wasn’t just about having fun. Each day the youngsters will also be invited to take part in workshops themed on key issues affecting their age group such as mental health, wellbeing and safety and other inspiring information sessions on climate change and green stem employability.
