Could you volunteer one hour each week?

MCR Pathways is recruiting mentors NOW for young people in North Ayrshire and they need YOU!

All young people are talented. However, many face challenges in their lives that make it harder for them to succeed.

This is why national mentoring charity MCR Pathways is seeking volunteers who can ‘Share an Hour’ and provide more young people with a mentor who’s there just for them.

Who are MCR?

MCR carefully matches young people with a mentor to meet in their school for just one hour each week, with this one-to-one relationship often making a profound impact on their confidence.

Established in 2007, MCR Pathways provides support to over 5,000 young people throughout Scotland each week.

Do I get time to do this type of volunteering?

North Ayrshire Council's volunteering policy offers up to two days per year, however this will only cover the initial training period and first 10-12 sessions you undertake with a young person.

Therefore, it is recommended that you discuss the volunteering opportunity with your line manager in the first instance to ensure you come up a solution (using Flexi) that works with the operational and resourcing needs of your team.

Why take the leap to become a mentor?

With their mentor's help, young people feel supported to focus on their future pathway.

As well as the life-changing impact on a young person, volunteers also benefit, gaining new skills in active listening, communication and leadership. Also, as a corporate parent, this is your way to make sure you #KeepThePromise to the care-experienced community.
