Monday 2 February: Millport Flood Protection Scheme

North Ayrshire Provost Anthea Dickson will mark the success of a £48million flood protection scheme by unveiling a plaque at the site this morning. The project at Millport, on the Isle of Cumbrae, offers coastal protection to more than 600 properties and was completed in October 2024. Wednesday 4 February: Green car scheme webinar

A Green Car Scheme webinar will be held on Wednesday 4 February from 4.30pm for colleagues interested in leasing a brand-new electric or hybrid car through the Fleet Solutions Salary Sacrifice Car Scheme. Full details in the Green Car Scheme news update.

Thursday 5 February: Managing Stress and Mental Health session

HR have arranged a new series of stress management and mental health sessions. The first takes place on Thursday 5 February at 11am, find out everything you need to know and how to sign up via the Managing Stress and Mental Health sessions news update.

Utilise accessibility tools on Word

When working on documents, a helpful starting point in supporting you is Microsoft Word’s Accessibility Assistant. This inbuilt tool scans your documents in real time as you work through them to highlight issues that will make it difficult for certain users to interpret. New strategic plan published

North Ayrshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership (NAADP) has published its strategic plan on the NAHSCP website. The plan, which was developed in collaboration with all partners and runs until 2028, has six key areas of focus including families and young people, workforce support, treatment and recovery, community development and support, housing, and justice. Each focus area has outcomes that NAADP will strive to implement during the lifetime of this strategy.

February is LGBT+ History month

Across the UK, February marks LGBT+ History Month, an opportunity to connect, reflect and celebrate the past and present of LGBT culture, the community and progress made. Promoting equality is one of the North Ayrshire Council's core values. If your team is working on an equalities event this month, however big or small, please email Equalities Champion, Jen Law, for your chance to be included in our news coverage. Check out the council website for details of local LGBT and Equalities groups.

Café on 4 weekly update

The Cunninghame House café is open from 8.30am, the café located on 4th floor east provides lots of choice including healthy options and daily specials. See the most up-to-date menu in the weekly café update.

Save the date: Take your first step towards standing for election

Following the success of the Elect Her Workshop – held in November at Council headquarters – North Ayrshire Council, is holding an upcoming workshop to encourage people to get more involved in local democracy. Whether you’re up for making a change in your local community or you want to put yourself forward to be a councillor, come along and find out more about how to get involved. The workshop will take place in the Council Chambers on Wednesday 18 February 2026 at 6pm within Cunninghame House, Irvine KA12 8EE. Book your space online now.
