Stay safe as virus infections increase across Scotland

Staff across the Council are being asked to ensure they take utmost care to help prevent the spread of viral infections this winter.

Health Boards across Scotland are seeing a sharp rise in viral respiratory infections, including flu which is placing significant pressure on hospitals.

To protect patients, visitors, and staff, NHS Ayrshire & Arran this week suspended routine visiting across all hospitals and only essential visits will be supported. The situation will be reviewed on a daily basis.

Across the Council, colleagues will come into regular contact with members of the public and we all have a role to play in ensuring we minimise any risk of infection.

Staff are advised to:

  • Get your winter vaccines if you are eligible. You can find more information on the NHS Ayrshire & Arran website
  • Good hand hygiene is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of catching or spreading infections. Wash your hands frequently with warm, soapy water for 20 seconds.
  • Dispose of any used tissues immediately.

If you are feeling unwell but still able to work, then please do so from home. Contact your line manager in the first instance.

Thank you to all staff for helping to keep our communities safe.
