Let's celebrate Scotland's Climate Week

Over the coming days, we'll be exploring how small changes can make a big difference to our environment, our communities, and our future. Whether you're passionate about sustainability or simply looking for a few practical ideas to try at home, there's something for everyone.

Throughout the week the Sustainability Team will be hosting events and sharing tips and resources designed to help us all learn more about climate change and sustainability.

  • Biodiversity Learning Event on Monday 28 September (12.30pm – 2pm) drop-in
    Large Meeting Room 2nd Floor West, Cunninghame House - discover the amazing wildlife, habitats and biodiversity projects happening across North Ayrshire
  • People Emergency Briefing on Tuesday 29 September (12.30pm – 2pm) drop-in
    Large Meeting Room 4th Floor West, Cunninghame House - a powerful film exploring the scientific evidence behind the climate and nature crisis
  • Sustainability Resource Showcase on Wednesday 30 September (12.30pm – 2pm) drop-in
    Large Meeting Room 2nd Floor West, Cunninghame House - become a child again and explore the exciting games, activities, gadgets and learning tools our team takes into schools to inspire the next generation of climate champions
  • Energy Smart Information Stall on Wednesday 30 September (12pm – 2pm) drop-in, Cunninghame House Staff Entrance - information on sustainable technologies and potential funding opportunities to help make homes warmer, more efficient, and more resilient against rising energy costs

Biodiversity Photo Competition 2026

To celebrate the amazing biodiversity, we have across North Ayrshire and our local communities, we're excited to launch our Biodiversity Photo Competition!

Whether you're out for a walk, enjoying your garden, visiting a local park, or exploring the coastline, we'd love to see the wildlife and plant life that makes our area so special.

What We're Looking For

Capture photos of:

  • Wildflowers and native plants
  • Birds and insects
  • Mammals and marine life
  • Trees, woodlands, and natural habitats
  • Any other wildlife you spot locally

Prizes!

The best photographs will win a prize, with entries judged on creativity, quality, originality and connection to local biodiversity

How to Enter

Simply email your photos to energyandsustainability@north-ayrshire.gov.uk by the 31st of October

Please include:

  • Your name
  • Where the photo was taken
  • A short description of what you've photographed (if known)
