News In Brief - Monday 16 March 2026

Thank you once again for tuning in to News in Brief with important updates and news highlights of all that is happening over the coming week.

Monday 16 March: Election nomination period begins

Following the Notice of Election for the Scottish Parliament Election announcement this morning (Monday 16 March), colleagues are reminded that we are now officially in the pre-election period until close of polls on Thursday 7 May 2026. This means as Council employees, we need to take additional care to ensure that we continue to act in a completely impartial and non-political manner. Whilst Council business goes ahead as usual, we should not engage in activities which could impact on the outcome of the election. Care therefore needs to be taken if organising events or taking forward policies or decisions which could be controversial and impact on the outcome of the election. Full details are via the Guidance to Council Employees and Elected Members document.

Also on Monday: North Coast Community Conversation session

The North Coast Locality team will be at West Kilbride Village Hall from Noon until 2pm on Monday 16 March for a community feedback event to discuss locality priorities and what matters most to communities. Finally for Monday: Free try curling session!

Colleagues have been invited to a Try Curling session on Monday 16 March at 6.30pm in Auchenharvie Leisure Centre. Pre-booking via the Try Curling website is required. Why not head over to the ice-rink and try something new? Scottish Curling will cover the cost of this free session.
